PetrolHedz 2010
On Sunday 27th June 2010, East Midlands RoSPA Group members participated in the PetrolHedz event, which was organised by the following partners:
- Derby & Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership
- Derby Police
- Derbyshire Fire & Rescue
- Derby IAM
- East Midlands RoSPA Advanced Drivers.
The event was aimed at Drivers under 26 years of age, offering the opportunity to take the 'Driver Challenge' a specially designed course, that looked at skill, speed control, and maneuvers all against the clock, and drivers having to 'score a goal' with a giant inflatable football at the end of the task.
Participants were able to discuss 'Advanced Driving' and try the Brake Reaction Tester at RoSPA East Midlands Groups MDU (mobile display unit). There was also an opportunity to try a skid cradle car.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue & Derby Police staged a road traffic accident, in which using the 'jaws of life' a member of the public was cut out of a vehicle.
