Ashbourne Young Drivers Event - 25/09/2010

On Friday 25th September 2010, East Midland Group members were in attendance at Ashbourne Fire Station, where Derbyshire Fire & Rescue & Ashbourne 1st Responders organized a simulated road traffic incident - the scene was set, two vehicles having been involved with numerous casualties - first on scene was Ashbourne 1st responders and followed by three fire & rescue appliances from Ashbourne & Wirksworth. A real to life experience.

In excess of 50 members of the public of all ages attended the event.

Towards the end of the evening, a presentation was given by Derbyshire Fire & Rescue, and this included an account from a young man, who described an incident in which a young cyclist was fatally injured, the young guy eventually revealed that he was the driver who's actions killed the cyclist - having been released from prison for the evening to be able to tell his story.

RoSPA East Midlands gave a short presentation and invited the audience to discuss 'Advanced Driving' with the group members present
